In 1951; the fruit seller Ismet (DOKMECIER) from Uskudar, established YALI GAZINOSU (Ismet Baba) which is now directed by the third generation.
In those years, we were serving both as wine shop and cafe but after 1970 started to serve only as a restaurant.
During his thirty years of management the "BABA" (which means FATHER) nickname was given to Ismet Dokmecier by the people because of his personality. So that, after his death date 26.03.1981 his children decided to change the name of the restaurant as ISMET BABA.
Today we, the third generation, try to improve the customer satisfaction and serving quality which were the main aims of Ismet Dokmecier in the beginning.
Your satisfaction, taste and creative critisizm take big importance in this improvement.
Also, the biggest pleasure for us is hearing "thank you" while you are leaving.
If you have never to been Kuzguncuk or never seen here, which is the meeting point of the religions, and if you pass through one day, test the delight of eating fish in ISMET BABA.
